When an employee hands in his resignation, the management is keen to find out the real reasons behind the decision. The employee usually cites the need for change Cf not wanting to n,liss out on a great career opportunity as the reason! for quitting. Basad on this
feedback, companies usually make a counter offer that promises better pay, career growth or even both to the employee who wants to leave.


When an employee refuses the offer, the management has to realise that there is more to it than meets the eye. So it is imperative that they find out the real· reasons for the employee's departure in the exit interview.


Exit interviews can be an eye-opener to the management on why employees are not happy working for the company, their issues with the management, dissatisfaction with policies and their apprehensions.
Such interviews have to be frank and open and encourage the employee to speak without any fear.
