Home Career Management Tips Build trust, enhance loyalty
Build trust, enhance loyalty PDF Print E-mail

An organisation where employees show a deep sense of commitment to their work and the employer is an ideal,
most companies aspire for. With constant effort and the right strategies, the management can enhance employee commitment.
Some pointers:

People involvement: Get people involved in discussing the purpose and ambition of the organisation. Listen to their opinions and implement them to take the company to a higher level.

Informal talk: Team heads should talk to team members informally and also formally about what is going on in the department and future plans and how it will affect them.
Involve team members in defining expectations and targets so that they are committed to their objectives.

Quality of work life: Take measures to improve the quality of working life and to improve the work environment. Work to set up a culture of consent rather than a command and control situation.

Encourage skill development: Help people to develop their skills and competencies to enhance their career within and also outside the firm.

Build trust: Building trust among your employees is a crucial step. It is the only way in which commitment can be generated.

Valuing people: Valuing people is a matter of creating and maintaining a positive organisation climate.

Listen to employees: Managers and team leaders should ask for opinions, listen to what people have to say and ask for suggestions. They have to either act on them or at least give a reasonable explanation of whatever alternative decision has been made.

Morale: If morale is high, then commitment, enthusiasm and teamwork are also high.
Commitment is about attachment and loyalty. It means a willingness to work hard on behalf of the organisation, a desire to remain with the organisation and be a part of its vision and values.
